This Business of Living
Life and work. Work and life. If we love our work, and even if we don’t, in real sense, work is still part of our lives. I’m stretching just a little bit this phrase we commonly refer to as “work-life balance.”
Can managers find true balance in their life and work? What can we do with a workplace more often than not, so focused on work-life rather than family-life? (Single-life included.)
Thoughts. Random thoughts. Reflections…
There is never going to be a clear cut solution as we tackle our different life scenarios.
I’ve often wondered how many of us seriously address one of the most troublesome challenges we have – balancing work and life, before we breakdown from our coping sanity. Let me qualify. I’m talking of ‘work’ here as something we need to do to survive and/or to live.
Like you, I too, have often hoped for something better - an integration of who we are and how we can live with what we do. When we work and are not happy with what we do, work-life balance becomes an undertaking, at times stressful.
But when we love what we do, plus derive joy from it in terms of career fulfillment and financial stability, then work-life balance is tilted to simply living a satisfying life. The challenge is, it’s not always like this in reality.
