Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930)
Scottish Writer and Medical Doctor
Sir Conan Doyle, Scottish crime writer, was born on May 22, 1859. He is best known as the creator of the detective Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Holmes’s partner in solving amateur crimes.
Doyle was also a writer of historical romances, science fiction, and poetry. Except for Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot, perhaps Sherlock Holmes is the most famous fictional detective of all time.
