QUOTES & SAYINGS

MONTHLY ARCHIVES

Inspired Pen Writing site is all about writing, literature, biographies of great writers and their works. It also shares writing tips and ideas, inspiring quotes and sayings, summaries of best books and top reads, and life tiny tips I call "life sparklers" for encouragement when we are at a loss for words.
A writer wears many hats. Having varied interests, writers write in different topics as well as different writing genres.

May our readers gain new insights whilst reinforcing the tried and true, and above all, have fun!

Not to Quit

No, I’m not writing about what I feel nor my thoughts, instead, I’m spotlighting a lifelong favourite poem by an anonymous author.  I’ve asked around who wrote this poem but nobody seems to know.  Thank you Anonymous.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man.
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Life Tiny Tips: Viewpoint

<h3>Life Tiny Tips: Point of View

Indeed, viewpoints will always depend where  we stand. Take for example 4-year old Clare, my friend’s daughter.  Once, mother and daughter were inside Coles, one of our popular large supermarket. All of a sudden Clare went missing. Naturally, an announcement was made over the supermart’s public address system. Soon enough a relieved friend of mine, Libby, collected her daughter from the store manager’s office.

Clare was not at all disturbed by the commotion she stirred. She even had her last few words to her mother, “Stop being upset Mom,” she said.  “If only you did not wander off, you wouldn’t get lost.”

Our Personal Network

Everyone in our life is a part of our network. They can all help us and we can help them.  Here I go again replaying like a broken record – that  ”… no man or woman is an island entire of him/her self.”  No one stands alone, and so we need to acknowledge each other’s skills, experiences, talents, and so forth. The people we know who are truly sincere and well-meaning are our helpful leads in our needs.  We need to take these people at heart.  Believe me!

And who make up this personal network of ours?

Family.

Friends.

Neighbors.

Co-workers.

Professionals in our areas of interest and discipline.

Suppliers.

Clients or customers.

Clubs or Association Members.

Acquaintances.

Mark them well.  And remember, they are part of us, some ways,  somehow.

Good day after all!

Every now and then, we should take some beating, or make ready that spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

It’s a good day after all!

We simply need to focus and remember people we know who remain cheerful, trying or no-trying times.  Better yet,  if we practice saying to ourselves first thing in the morning, “I am going to enjoy the day.”

Why not…
